Polished Concrete Brisbane

True mechanical polishing. No cheap topical sealers. Just a flawless, diamond-ground finish built to outlast the slab itself.

The Difference Between a True Polish and a Cheap Tradie Grind.

A real polished concrete floor takes multi-stage diamond grinding, heavy machinery, and precise densification. Most volume concreters will just grind the top layer and slap on a clear coat that scratches in a year.

We don’t do patch jobs.

We deliver high-end, zero-tolerance mechanical finishes for premium residential and Tier-1 commercial spaces.

The Commoner Collective Standard

Four stages of heavy mechanical refinement. Zero shortcuts. Here is how we engineer a flawless floor.

Full Exposure Polished Concrete

The slab is cut deep enough to reveal the natural aggregate beneath – stone, sand, and mineral all ground and polished to a mirror finish. Every floor is completely unique because every slab is different. This is the premium option for people who want a floor that makes a statement.

Suits: Architecturally designed new builds, high-end residential living areas and kitchens, commercial lobbies and feature spaces, projects where the concrete quality is high and the aggregate is worth revealing.

Full Exposure Mechanical Polish

Our premium, zero-tolerance finish. We cut deep to reveal 100% of the stone beneath the surface. Using premium Auskut diamond tooling, we mechanically refine and densify the slab from the inside out for a permanent, high-gloss architectural finish that requires zero topical coatings.

Full Exposure Honed

Delivering the exact same 100% stone exposure as our mechanical polish, but the refinement is dialed back to leave a flat, matte, or satin aesthetic. Perfect for high-end outdoor spaces, driveways, or commercial areas requiring strict slip-resistance ratings.

Grind & Seal

The surface is mechanically ground flat and refined, then sealed with a penetrating resin that hardens from the inside out. Cleaner and more uniform than full exposure. The finish is controlled rather than organic – better suited to spaces where consistency matters more than character.

Suits: Renovations where the existing slab has imperfections, retail and commercial fitouts, garages and workshops, projects where budget or slab condition rules out full aggregate reveal.

Full Exposure Grind and Seal

We perform the exact same heavy grinding process to expose 100% of the natural stone. However, instead of polishing the concrete to a shine mechanically, we apply a high-performance, penetrating clear resin. This seals the floor, makes the aggregate pop, and provides a highly durable, uniform finish.

Choosing Commoner Collective

The reputation built in the trenches.

We’ve partnered with plenty of outfits that look good on paper but stumble on the big warehouse slabs. Al is a different breed entirely. He handled a 2,000sqm floor prep for us with zero downtime and surgical precision. He just gets the urgency of the site and the standards we needed for the job. Well done Al.

Commoner Collective treated my garage prep like an art installation, brilliant result. The depth in this finish is insane. It’s the standout feature of the whole house now. If you want the cheap stuff, call someone else. If you want it done right, get Al.

Julian M

Teneriffe

We had a very specific architectural vision for an exposed aggregate finish that a few contractors we contacted were too scared to touch.

Commoner Collective took the task on an engineered the slab to bring out the best possible stones. It’s rare to find someone who actually understands the raw materials as well as the machinery.

Exceptional work.

FAQ

Common Questions About Mechanical Polishing

01. How long does a true mechanically polished floor last?

Unlike cheap topical sealers that peel, yellow, or scratch within a year, a true mechanical polish hardens the concrete itself. With basic maintenance, the finish will literally outlast the building. You will never need to strip or re-coat it.

02. Can any existing concrete slab be polished?

Not every slab is a candidate for a full aggregate reveal. We assess the MPA rating, moisture levels, and existing damage before we start. If your slab is heavily degraded or heavily trenched, we will recommend a premium Grind & Seal or a custom epoxy system. We don’t force a polish on a bad foundation.

03. Is a high-gloss polished concrete floor slippery?

No. It is a common misconception that a glass-like mirror finish means a slippery floor. A true mechanical polish actually provides excellent slip resistance, often outperforming tile, polished stone, or timber. It is perfectly safe for high-traffic commercial lobbies and residential living spaces.

04. How long does the polishing process take?

A premium mechanical polish is a multi-stage, zero-tolerance process that cannot be rushed. Depending on the square meterage and the required aggregate exposure, expect a 4 to 7-day turnaround. We prioritise a flawless, permanent finish over a fast exit.
